Fleeting Glimpse Images Blog: The First 100 Posts
If CNN can count President Obama’s 100 Days on a graphic every 10 minutes, I figured I could do a 100th post retrospective of my blogging foray.
I took this Strobist-inspired picture on March 30th with the intent of using it on my 100th post. To my chagrin, I looked at the real Strobist’s blog today only to find that David Hobby had a similar picture posted and that he was doing a three-year retrospective of sorts. Great Minds? Or, we should check with each other in the morning to see what each other are wearing? Either way, it was interesting to see the similarities and differences. David looks more intense and caffeinated while I work in a relaxed fashion with my feet up on my desk His Mac is bigger than my Mac but I am secure in that.
“It has been fun!”
Post Number 1 of this blog started in early December of 2007 and for the past 16+ months, I have cranked out about one article every 5 or 6 days. Sometimes only one or two in a month were created, primarily due to travel schedule. Other times, I managed 9 or more a month, primarily due to boredom. The blog is simul-posted on four different services, WordPress, MSN Live Spaces, Blog Spot and Live Journal. All blogs are written using Windows Live Writer and then posted up individually to the various services.
Traffic-wise, WordPress has overtaken the initial surge on Spaces. Spaces had the benefit of a non-technical blog following that migrated into the new Fleeting Glimpse Images Blog. After 14 Months, the WordPress traffic has eclipsed Spaces. WordPress is my first link of choice when handing out URLs to would-be linkers. Blog Spot holds it’s own in a respectable 3rd with Live Journal is in a dismal 4th place. Comment traffic is heaviest-by far-on WordPress. At some point I will likely trim to only two services.

As I look back across the blog and the 100 posts there are a few I might consider not posting today, but I leave them as a testament to my evolution as a blogger. It has been fun. The excitement of helping people, expressing myself and expanding my presence into the nebulous blogosphere has been cathartic and illuminating. I look forward to blogging here for years to come.
I had planned a quite extravagant post for my 100th entry but time is catching up to me. With a week to go before my next Costa Rica expedition and many tasks yet to complete, this will have to suffice-for now.
Thank you for reading! If you missed a post or two along the way, go back and read them. Drop me a comment so that I know those old stories still get love.
