1000 Words minus 3 Capital Letters

As many of you have guessed the previous post was an HDR image made through the Photomatix software tool for blending bracketed exposures. What would happen if HDR software didn’t exist? What if I were left to work with only the best exposure?  Here is the same picture minus HDR… only one exposure-just like grand-dad.

The Non-HDR version

What do you think?

  1. Hi Rikk,

I really have enjoyed your presentations at the Lightroom Users Group. You present things very clearly. I have been trying to learn the process of creating HDR images using Photomatix. Unfortunately, you presented you techniques so clearly at the Lightroom Users Group, that everything seemed obvious and I didn’t take very good notes. Have you written this process down anywhere that I can read it? I’m especially interested in what you said about the Light Smoothing, Microcontrast and Tone Settings. Hopefully, you have written a great article about this process somewhere.

    Thanks,
    Howard A. Gitelson
